Jessica Eridon

(Middle School and High School: History 6-10, and Japanese. )

Jessica Eridon grew up in Bowling Green and went to BG Christian from Kindergarten through 7th grade. She attended Bluffton College, where she got a Bachelor's in History and a license to teach Jr. and Sr. High Social Studies.

Jessica was a substitute teacher in the Bowling Green School District for a few years, and was in every classroom from Pre-K to Sr. High Physics. She then had the opportunity to teach English to Junior High and Elementary students in Japan. After teaching for three years, she returned to America and completed two graduate classes to renew her teaching license. She is very excited to be teaching this year and looks forward to working with all the students.

Karen Herald

(Elementary School: Kindergarten)

First year at BG Christian: 1991

Mrs. Karen Herald is in her 22nd year of teaching; 14 of her teaching years she has taught Kindergarten here at BG Christian Academy. Although she was a teacher’s aide in a first grade classroom, all the other years were spent with Kindergarteners. Kindergarten is her first and foremost love in teaching. She loves her “little ones.”

She graduated from BGSU with a B.A. in Elementary Education and has periodically taken classes at BGSU in computer and teaching methods in reading. She is especially interested in the reading and writing processes of language, and emphasizes these vital activities in her classroom.

She has been married to Bill Herald for 33 years; they have three children, Jonathan (30), Joel (27) and Amy (22). The couple also has two granddaughters, Kaitlyn (6) and Ellie (1). Mrs. Herald enjoys spending time with her family, reading Christian historical fiction, eating out, exercise, and gardening and plants.

She has many “favorite” Scripture verses, but several of her “favorites” include: Jeremiah 29:11, Romans 8:28, Revelation 4:8c, Psalm 19:14, I Timothy 1:17 and II Corinthians 1: 3-5. She loves the Word in Isaiah and Psalm 139.

Gael Windom

(Elementary School: Fourth Grade)

Mrs. Windom grew up on the shores of Lake Erie at Willowick, Ohio. She attended Bowling Green State University and graduated with a double major in Elementary Education and Learning Disabilities. She taught at Liberty Elementary School in 1974. And she tutored at Kenwood Elementary School in 1975. Both schools are in the BG school district.

Gael then taught at Sunday School and did a story hour for play groups involving her sons. In 1984, Gael Windom became the 1st Kindergarten teacher. The Kindergarten teacher position was shared by Mrs. Windom, Mrs. Christensen, and Mrs. Herald in the beginning of Bowling Green Christian Academy. Gael started teaching 1st grade in 1995. She is starting her 21st year of teaching.

Mrs. Windom loves children. She loves to learn and to make things. She loves to crochet, quilt, bake and garden. In fact Mrs. Windom tries to learn new things just so she can feel like a 1st grader. Learning wasn't always easy for Mrs. Windom. Making things and curiosity have been her best teachers.

Margie Larson

(Elementary School: Second Grade)

First year at BG Christian 1989

Margie grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from Bowling Green State University with a B.S. in Elementary Education. Margie has been teaching 2nd grade at BG Christian for twenty years. Prior to that she taught 1st grade at Lakota Schools. She likes teaching this age because the children are sweet,teachable and eager to learn. She is amazed how well the children read by the end of 2nd grade and also, all they accomplish in Math. She enjoys teaching History and Bible and also looks forward to teaching her students how to write in cursive. Margie thinks the staff at BG Christian are wonderful to work with.

Margie lives in Bowling Green and has been married to her husband Bill for thirty-five years. Their son, Joel and his wife, live in Pasadena, CA. They had a baby girl this past summer and Margie is now a proud grandmother. Their daughter Leah and her husband live in Oklahoma City. She teaches third grade in a Christian school.

Margie enjoys nature and loves being outdoors. She likes bike riding, walking in the woods and a beautiful garden. She likes to travel and spend time with her family and friends.

Her favorite Bible verse is Romans 8:28, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Anne Nekoranec

(Elementary School: Third Grade)

Anne grew up in Wellesley, Massachusetts. She attended Mount Holyoke College and Wheelock College where she received a M.S. in Early Childhood Education. She taught Second Grade, Art, and Preschool before joining BG Christian as a teacher in 2007.

Anne is a BG Christian parent alumna. She has 3 children who all graduated from BG Christian. Kate is now 21 and married, John is 19 and a freshman at OSU, and Tom is 17 and a junior at BGHS.

Anne likes to read, garden, draw and paint, travel, and visit museums. Her favorite thing about teaching is seeing the “light bulb go on” when a student learns something, and being a part of that process.

Anne’s current favorite Bible verse is Zephaniah 4:17: “The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.”

Dru Cunningham

(Elementary School: Fourth Grade)

First year at BG Christian: 1993

Dru Cunningham grew up on a farm near Spencerville, Ohio. After high school, she worked at City Loan in Lima, Ohio, and attended a branch of O.S.U.,later transferring to Bluffton College. Her degree is a B.S. in Elementary Education for grades 1-8. After graduating she taught third grade at Celina City Schools. Then Dru married Spencer Cunningham , who is also a Bluffton College graduate, and moved to the Bellefontaine, Ohio area, where Spencer was a Youth for Christ director. Dru was involved with Spencer in this ministry for teens for many years and had great times! Dru taught third grade in Bellefontaine Schools during those years.

Later, the Cunninghams moved to Toledo, Ohio, where Dru enjoyed staying home for awhile with her children. She did some home schooling with her children, Anika and Kristoff, and really had a good experience. In 1993, Dru took a mid-year vacancy in third grade at BGCA. Her son, Kristoff, was in her class, which was even more fun! Teaching at BGCA has turned out to be a real blessing. To be able to become, not just the teacher of creative, really "good kids", but a co-worker and friend of parents who really want the best for their children, is a real joy ! To work in the environment with the staff at BGCA is just the greatest!

In Dru's spare time she likes travel, biking, reading, and free-lance writing, having been blessed to have a couple of books published. She is always open to a new adventure! Dru and Spencer have one little grandson, Ethan, who likes to play games and is pure delight!

One of Dru's favorite verses is Philippians 4:13 " I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me."

Sue Guhl

(Elementary School: Fifth Grade)

Sue Guhl grew up in Sandusky, Ohio. Her first job besides babysitting was working at Cedar Point for several summers to pay for college. Sue attended Bowling Green State University in shifts-first time right out of high school, then returning as a non-traditional student at age 31. She has a B.S. in Elementary Education.

Sue and her husband Bill live in Weston. Their daughter, Jenny, and new son-in-law Clint, live in Raleigh, North Carolina. Jenny is also a teacher - 6th grade language arts. Son Jonathan and daughter-in-law Lauren live in Waterville, along with the Guhls' brand-new granddaughter, Lucy. Sue and Bill are SO excited to be grandparents and enjoy babysitting for Lucy.

This is Sue's seventh year teaching fifth grade at BGCA. Some years ago she taught junior high math and science for two years. Sue loves the questions asked by fifth graders, and has learned many things from her students.

Sue's favorite Bible verse is Lamentations 3:22,23, because it reminds her that each day we can start again in God's love and mercy.

Linda Judson

(Middle School: Advanced Math and High School Math Grades 6-10)

Mrs. Linda Judson was captured by the desire to teach math as a seventh grade student herself in New Jersey. Graduating from Douglass College at Rutgers the State University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, in 1972, Mrs. J traveled with her civil engineer husband, Dan, to 7 states and South Africa over the next 18 years. Her degree in Mathematics Education and permanent New Jersey teaching license for K-12 Mathematics aided years of substituting, both short and long term, summer school teaching and tutoring.

Perrysburg, Ohio, became home in 1990. Living in an historic home along the Maumee River, the Judsons and son, Michael, are also kept busy with antiques and classic cars. Michael is a mechanical engineer.

Joining the BGCA staff in March, 1998, Mrs. J teaches math to 6th through 9th grade students. "The subject that really counts" is such a picture of God: order, pattern aand plan. Students experience humor and memorable sayings as they learn to be problem solvers. "What do you see? What do you know? What do you do?"

Ephesians 3:14-19 is her prayer: "For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge - that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God."

Bo Kessler

(Upper Campus Administrator (Middle School and High School), Middle School and High School: Bible 6-10)

Bo has been teaching at BG Christian since the fall of 2005. A graduate of Bowling Green State University he majored in Secondary Education with a focus in Integrated Social Studies.

Bo has a real passion for working with students during their Middle and High School years. He truly believes that these years are ones in which students begin to embark on a rich spiritual journey, learning more about who God is, and deciding whether or not to walk in a faith that is their own.

Bo loves working with students and people, and couldn’t be happier that he gets to minister to them full-time.

He and his wife Erin have been married since 2006 and have a son, Will, and a daughter, Sarah.

Nicole Hill

(Middle School and High School: Science (6-10), High School: Online Program Coordinator)

Nicole grew up on a farm in Troy, Ohio and attended college at Bowling Green State University. She has a B.A. in Elementary Education (1-8) and came to BG Christian in 2000. She enjoyed teaching 6th grade for 5 years before getting married and moving to Cleveland. Now that she is back in Bowling Green, we have welcomed her back as our junior high science teacher and high school online coordinator.

Mrs. Hill loves being creative in her lessons and allowing her students to be as hands-on as possible in their activities.

Nicole loves to read, draw, and spend time with her two adorable puppies. Nicole and her husband, Gabe, enjoy spending time with their friends and family.

Wendie Cuckler

(Principal)

Wendie grew up in the Cleveland area in a large family. She attended Bowling Green State University and received a B.S. in Education. Wendie has worked in business management and taught third, fourth, fifth, and junior high school. She has been the principal at BG Christian since 2001. Wendie has four daughters who all attended B.G. Christian from kindergarten through 8th grade and is married to her wonderful husband John. She is also the proud grandparent of one active grandson!

Wendie loves to spend time with her family, travel, antiquing, and reading. She loves her weekly Bible study/prayer group and the continual challenge to grow in the Lord.

Sandy Dally

(Elementary and Middle School: Art and Music)

Sandy Dally has always loved to draw and actually remembers a piece of art that she created in Kindergarten. It was a picture of the US Marine Band in crayon and the teacher hung it up. That was the beginning of her love of art. When she attended Bowling Green State University, she could not decide whether to major in art, music, or Spanish, but art won out. She graduated with a BA in Art and a BS in Education and was intending on working in the graphic art field but when she did her student teaching in a school near Cleveland, she knew she had found her niche. She first taught in the Parma School System at the same elementary school she had attended, Seven Hills Elementary. When she married and moved to Bowling Green, she taught in the Genoa School System.

Sandy has been working at BG Christian FOREVER. If not forever, at least she began working at BG Christian soon after the doors opened. She taught the younger grades at the beginning and eventually taught all the art classes. In 2001 she became the "Arts Teacher" and took over the general music responsibilities also. She loves working at the school. Where else can you work with your best friends and enjoy the most wonderful children in Bowling Green. She lives in Portage, Ohio with her husband Mark. All four of her children are graduates of BG Christian and live in the area. She is a blessed women.

Betty Winslow

(Library)

Betty Winslow learned to read at the age of four, grew up in and around libraries, and has been obsessed with books her whole life. She’s been in charge of BG Christian's library since 1989, and two of her major accomplishments are organizing the library’s move from downstairs to upstairs and automating the entire library collection from scratch (which is almost done!) Married to the same wonderful guy since 1972, she and Mark are the parents of four grown children (who all attended BG Christian) and the grandparents of one delightful nine year old girl. Betty loves to read, but she also writes poetry (including some published by Chicken Soup), makes jewelry, sings with her church’s worship team, dances whenever she can, and does freelance writing for various venues. She currently writes a column for Teacher-Librarian Magazine and reviews books for Midwest Book Review.

Sheri deNijs

(Elementary Resource)

Sheri attended college at Bowling Green State University. She has a B.S. in Elementary Education. She also attended Ohio State University to obtain her Kindergarten certification and a K-12 Reading Endorsement.

Mrs. deNijs was a Resource Teacher in Columbus, OH for 11 years before joining our staff at BG Christian in 2005. She really loves working with children in small groups. She enjoys getting to know them well and helping them achieve their best.

Sheri and her husband, Roger, have enjoyed helping single moms with childcare and other needs. Serving as youth leader has also been a favorite past time.

Margaret Malanga

(Middle School: Resource)

Margaret Malanga grew up here in Bowling Green and graduated from Bowling Green Christian Academy back in 1998. She graduated from BGSU in 2006 as a Mild to Moderate Intervention Specialist. She loves working with students until the light of understanding finally clicks on no matter how long it takes. Here at BG Christian, Margaret teaches Jr. High English and is the resource teacher for the upper school.

Margaret loves to spend time with her husband, Matt, and her little boy, Graham. She also likes to play piano and to be outdoors. She LOVES teaching at BG Christian!

Sue Reidling

(Staff: Office Administrator)

Sue Reidling started working as a Parent Volunteer at BG Christian in 1996. She then was hired on as the Office Administrator in February 2000.

She has a son Justin who is a BG Christian Graduate, and is now attending school to become a Mechanical Engineer.

In her free time she enjoys spending time with her son, gardening, and baking cakes for all kinds of occasions.

Judy Bowlus

(Elementary School: Third Grade)

Judy is new to this area and to BG Christian. She moved last winter from Delaware, Ohio and is adjusting to "living in the country". Born and raised in Columbus, she graduated in 1994 with a BA from Capital University and a Learning Disabilities certificate. This year in Half-day Kindergarten begins her 9th year of teaching. She has taught Kindergarten in Delaware (Ohio) and Columbus City schools, First grade in Columbus City schools, Columbus and Delaware Christian schools, a Lutheran school and non-denominational school (both in Pennsylvania), and Second grade in Pennsylvania and Delaware. One of her favorite school opportunities is Chapel.

She thinks the world of her husband, Mark, their son, Matthew (6) and daughter, Hannah (8), both of whom are attending BG Christian. Judy loves to be outside hiking, camping, and also doing crafts, singing and playing her guitar. Many of her college summers were spent doing summer camping ministries. As a family they enjoy movies, swimming and Ohio State Football. Go Bucks!

Dena LaPolt

(Upper School Secretary)

Dena LaPolt grew up in Madison, Wisconsin. She moved to Sylvania, Ohio in high school. She graduated with a MS in plant genetics from BGSU. Dena worked in agricultural research for 13 years. The focus of her research was in tomatoes and mushrooms. She also enjoys reading, gardening and has recently developed a passion for Biblical History as it relates to ancient civilizations.

Dena and her husband Tom live in Bowling Green. Their children are Noah in fifth grade at BGCA and Devin in seventh grade at BG Middle School. They enjoy attending their children’s volleyball, baseball and soccer games.

Dena is the Upper Campus Secretary. She was the Lunch Room Attendant for the past three years. She enjoys middle school students and looks forward to helping them throughout the year.

Matt Gorey

(Middle School: Math (6-7))

Matt Gorey grew up in Whitehouse, Ohio. He graduated from BGSU in December of 2009 with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. After completing his student teaching in a third grade classroom, he spent the rest of the year substitute teaching in various grades. Matt is so excited to spend the year teaching math to sixth and seventh graders!

Matt is also employed at CedarCreek Church in Perrysburg where he serves as Audio Director. He enjoys teaching, pro audio, running, snowboarding and playing bass guitar.

Shelley Lee

(Staff: Development Director)

Shelley has a bachelor's degree in Communications from Grand Valley State University, Allendale, MI. Her professional titles have also included non-profit director, and journalist. As BG Christian's Development Director, Shelley is heading up the building campaign currently underway for a new K-12 campus to the north of our location on Haskins Road. She coordinates the school newsletter, and special events specifically for the building fund.

Shelley and her husband Dave, a teacher and wrestling coach, are the parents of four sons, all BG Christian Academy Alum. They both greatly appreciate the rich educational and spiritual value the Academy has added to their family.

She enjoys traveling, spending time with friends and family, and freelance writing (one book on wrestling!).

Maureen Keil

(Elementary and Middle School: Gym and Band)

Maureen grew up in northern California, and moved here when her husband began teaching at BGSU. She grew up living half her life in band rooms, music stores, and rehearsals, and the other half in the swimming pool and at Cross Country and track meets. She graduated from Wheaton College with a B.A. in Liberal Arts, and a B.S.N. After a few years working as a nurse, she had two children, both who attended BG Christian for several years. When they started school, she worked as a substitute teacher, primarily for Elmwood Middle School.

Judi Robinson

(Elementary School: Teaching Assistant)

Judi and her husband, Terry, have six children, four of which are BG Christian alumni. Judi came on staff as a teachers’/office aide in 1991, when her youngest daughter entered first grade at BG Christian.

She also taught Jr Hi Bible at BG Christian for six years, before becoming a teaching assistant.

Presently, Judi assists teachers in grades K-4 with in class projects and assignments, including seat work and reading groups. She provides out of class services such as photocopying, laminating, grading, collating and displaying student assignments and projects. She also monitors Kindergarten lunch and recess.

Judi’s favorite activities include spending time with her 11 grandchildren, video & photo book editing, photography, and touring lighthouses. She and Terry have visited 36 lighthouses.

Anna Fowler

(Business Administrator)

First year at BG Christian: 2008

Mrs. Anna Fowler is in her 13th year of being a small business owner of Silver Lining Bookkeeping LLC providing bookkeeping and business consulting services.

She graduated from Lourdes College with a B.A. in Business with minors in French and Applied Music.

She has been married to Kevin for eight very adventurous years. In June 2009 they became foster parents for the first time and are having great fun with their recently expanded family. Mrs. Fowler enjoys cooking, traveling, hosting dinner parties and informal gatherings, including for the women’s ministry of Bowling Green Covenant Church, and spending time with her many good friends.

Her favorite Bible passage is Isaiah 43:18-19 "Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland."

Rob Boron

(Athletic Director)

Rob is entering his fourth year serving the school as Athletic Director. In his time here he has worked to build upon the current sports program as well as develop new sports and opportunities in athletics. Rob grew up in Canton, OH and moved to Bowling Green to pursue his education. He is currently a student at Bowling Green State University, completing a degree in Middle Childhood Education.

Rob has also served as the elementary and high school boys’ basketball coach over the past three years. For the 2009-2010 season he will be the junior high boys’ basketball coach. He enjoys coaching and working with the kids at the school and believes his biggest reward is watching the students grow spiritually through academics and athletics. His favorite scripture is, Matthew 6:33 Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.

Cyndi Buechler

(Free Money Coordinator)

Cyndi Buechler has been a parent here since 2000. She originally started the Free Money Program in 2001 and is pleased with how it has thrived, earning tens of thousands of dollars in tuition reduction for parents over the years.

Cyndi has two great sons, alumni Karl is a St. John's Jesuit High School graduate, and Matthew who is in 7th grade.

Michele Audet

(Middle School and High School: English 6-10)

Michele Audet grew up in Toledo, Ohio. Ever since she was a little girl she wanted to be a teacher. Michele attended The University of Toledo and graduated in 1990. She has a B.E. in Elementary Education. She is currently attending Bowling Green State University pursuing her Masters of Education in Curriculum Teaching.

Michele and her husband, Todd, live in Sylvania, Ohio. They have two beautiful, teenage daughters: Rachel and Sydney. Her daughters keep her busy in her spare time.

This is Michele’s first year teaching sixth through ninth grade English at BGCA. She has seventeen years of teaching experience in various grade levels. Michele loves teaching and learning from all of her students.

Susan Sweet

(Elementary School: First Grade)

Susan grew up on a big farm in Columbia City, IN. graduating in Elementary Education (endorsements in Kindergarten and Reading) from Purdue University in 1984. She taught for seven years in the public schools systems of Indiana and Kentucky for grades Kindergarten and First. She then had the joy of staying home with her young children and homeschooling them for 12 years. She began teaching First Grade again at a Christian School in Youngstown, OH. After teaching there for four years, God moved her family to Bowling Green, OH last year. Susan loves First Graders! Every day is such an adventure when you get to spend it with a child!

Her husband is the Children and Family Life Pastor at Dayspring Church. They both love children and count it a great blessing that God allows them to minister into the lives of children each day! They have four children: James (24), Joshua (20), Sarah (18) and Jordan (14).

Her greatest joy is to communicate to both children and adults that God loves them so very much!! He has an incredible purpose and plan for their life! Watching children grow in confidence because of that knowledge is truly beautiful! As you can guess, her life verse is Jeremiah 29:11!

Kendra Slates

(Pre-school Teacher )

Kendra grew up in Pemberville Ohio, graduating from Eastwood High School in 2003. She graduated from Owens Community College with an associate degree in 2005 and went on to teach preschool in Lakeland, Florida, at Victory Christian Academy. While living in Florida, Kendra furthered her education at Southeastern University. Kendra completed and received her degree from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor in Early Childhood Education PreK-3. After completing her degree, she took a full-time substitute position teaching Kindergarten at Wittier Elementary in Findlay.

Kendra has taught and tutored students of many ages and although she has been successful in all roles, she feels that teaching preschool is where her heart’s passion lies. She is very excited to take on the role of the preschool teacher at BG Christian Academy!

Kendra also has 8 years of experience working in admissions at Wood County Hospital and feels that this position has helped her learn how to assist and work with people. She feels that because of this experience, she will be able to transition well into the admissions position at BG Christian.

Kendra has been married to her husband Evan Slates, a BG Chrisitian alum, since July ’10. She enjoys scrapbooking, spending time on the beach, and primarily spending time with her family and friends!
